Æ’s paleontology team has a robust track record of providing high-quality paleontological resource management for a broad variety of clients.

Our paleontology program provides a full range of services for the successful completion of hundreds of paleontological inventory, evaluation, and monitoring projects throughout California and the western United States. Principal and senior staff within Æ’s paleontology program are trained, experienced, and equipped to deal with vertebrate, invertebrate, macro- and micro-botanical fossils, and paleoenvironments.

In addition to their breadth of technical expertise, our paleontologists have practical knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other laws and regulations governing paleontological resources. Æ’s paleontology program has coordinated extensively with federal agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service; state agencies such as the California Energy Commission and California Department of Transportation; and numerous city and county planning and public works departments. Æ holds paleontological resource permits issued by federal and state agencies, including BLM Statewide Paleontological Use Permits for California and Nevada. Æ staff is also approved by many counties throughout California for paleontological resource investigations.

Our paleontologists adhere to industry-wide Society of Vertebrate Paleontology standards as well as federal, state, and local guidelines as appropriate on a project-by-project basis. Our experienced team has a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality accurate technical deliverables on schedule and within budget.

AE’s paleontology staff maintains excellent working relationships with major museum repositories across California, including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County Museum, San Diego Museum of Natural History, University of California Museum of Paleontology, and Western Science Center, among others.

Our paleontologists participate in public outreach events several times per year. Staff members within Æ’s paleontology program publish and present regularly as active members of the scientific community.
